Simone Ruggeri

A former Magic: The Gathering player, Simone Ruggeri is primarily an online specialist, and began by grinding low stakes Sit & Go’s before moving up the levels. He’s now one of the highest Italian online earners and looks set to continue as a winning player.

He discovered poker through his Magic contacts and immediately enjoyed the game and the challenges it brings. His bankroll yo-yoed at the start of his career before a big win in 2007 focussed his efforts on perfecting his game. It was tough at first, but Simone has been able to steadily build his roll, and he’s now one of PokerStars most successful Italian players. His secret has been effective bankroll management – he’s happy to drop down a level when things get difficult, and this consistent and intelligent approach has seen him carve out a living in the game. Much more at home online, he has ventured only occasionally onto the live scene. He made a small cash at the Italian Championships in San Remo in 2007, and is hoping to develop the live tournament side of this game. He hopes that PokerStars events like the Italian Poker Tour and the European Poker Tour will provide the platform to achieve that goal. 

Simone is an avid reader, and likes books on anthropology, sociology, politics and news in general. He also likes to travel and hang out with friends. He’s very passionate about poker and joining the team at PokerStars is a dream come true. The site has always been his favourite and he considers it a great privilege to be able to be pursue a career in poker.
